After a long break, here I am writing again. Today President Barack Obama was inaugurated as the 44th President of the United States of America. I will admit that I will not vote for him, but I'm also very happy for him. What he has achieved goes to show that the United States is the most diverse country perhaps in the world. This is a country where you can speak any language, have any nationality and you will adapt to society perhaps quicker than anywhere else in the world. Said that, even though I did not vote for barack, I will support him as a naturalized US citizen. He will have a tough time during his first few months in office. The economy is not doing well at all, and now we are bing told the obvious, the economy is in recession and we risk going into a soft depression. President Obama will have to spend and spend some more, now, I'm not sure this is the best decision long term, but he cannot disappoint all those that elected him, doing the right thing at this point would mean to put the country in further finacial difficulties. He will try to give away money to state governments, individual citizens and anyone that may be willing to take dollars. By the time this is set and done they will fall short of dumping dollars from helicopters. The result hopefully will be a recovery to the old ways of spending more than we make, and further debilitation of the dollar. The immideate threat right now id deflation, central bankrs are scared of deflation and they will do whatever is within their power to try to fend off deflation. The bad thing is that it is an extremely hard act to balance, and my guess is that they will go too far and start an inflationary period somewhere down the stretch, perhaps a year or two from now. I have not good advice other than saving, paying down your debts, and put as much money as you can afford in the best investment of all: YOU. Excercise, educate yourself, and in general strive for constant improvement, read as many books and publications as you can get your hands on, for that is the only solutions to your own financial crisis.
I want to talk about another topic, a piece of news I read in a Mexican newspaper this morning. The goalie for the soccer Mexican national team, declared yesterday that they should put a cap on how many naturalized mexican players can be part of the soccer team that represents Mexico. To me this is just plain stupid, so what that means is that the fact that you are a naturalized citizen means that somehow you are not good enough to represent your country on any given sport? This is the reason Mexico has never done well in soccer in international competitions, and after I read that commentI can predict another failure for the next 2 years for Mexico. It is because of people with such petty thinking as this guy (Paco Memo Ochoa) that Mexico does not make progress. If he wants to reach greatness he has to learn to think big and embrace any culture, I tell you what: if I was in the situation where I'm a naturalized citizen and my soccer team does not want me even though, I'm good enough, I would be deeply disappointed. I'm a naturalized US citizen and I probably do more good for the country than many citizens. It is obvious that the guy that made those stupid remarks has never been in that situation. Anyway, I'd better get off the computer I still have a presentation to prepare.
